We pass through life with tremendous speed. We tend to, almost, not see what is actually happening around us. We tend to take out of sight small details, which could improve our life and make it more beautiful. Like then, when years in a row you get off at the same subway station, but you don’t notice the color show that happens in front of your eyes when you climb up the stairs to get out of the underground due to the negative thoughts.
I had this in mind when a friend that lives in Paris for many years, and gets off weekly at the Palais Royal-Musee du Louvre station, told me that she doesn’t find anything spectacular at that underground entrance. She vaguely knew it was a piece of art, but she never stopped to truly admire Le Kiosque des Noctambules, an ensemble of aluminum and Murano glass spheres, found under the dome where thousands of people pass rushing, without even smile once. Just like her. It’s true though, when you have your head down, you don’t really see what happens above.
When it comes to me, I don’t know better therapy for cold days or small life inconveniences than a considerable dose of color. And it’s not only about clothes, but also about places, and objects than can make you largely smile. It’s important to actually look around you.
