About courage and other deamons

I’ve let myself inspired by Ilona and started thinking about what I really wanted for this year that has just begun. Besides health and wonderful moments with my dear ones, one of my resolutions is to have more courage. I shouldn’t be afraid of trying, of failing and starting all over again. And I’m not necesserily talking about fashion, but also about the choices I make daily. And I’m positive that each and every one of you, les filles, had moments in their lives when they would have wanted to have more courage, n’est-ce pas? Courage to say things as they are, courage to say ’’no’’, to deal with our mistakes, courage to believe in what we’re doing and, most importantly, courage to dream.

That’s why I’ve chosen to begin this new year with an outfit that some time ago, I would have been frightened to wear. Ironically, but not by chance, somewhere at the end of last year I’ve advised you to try the harmony of contradictions. Now I can find the courage to wear animal print with not one, but three different patterns, even knowing that this would draw attention to me and most likely, I will also come across some comments regarding my outfit. Envy, ignorance and wickedness are the things that will never die unfortunately, but as long as I know that a clothing item is not only used to keep me warm, but also to make me happy, then I have the courage to combine it with whatever my heart feels that it makes sense. A botanical patterned skirt will go well with a pair of polka dotted sandals and, most of all, it will remind us of vacations and will bring summer closer, on these cold winter days.

One of the most important advice that I’ve received regarding fashion, was given to me years ago in Christian’s Lacroix studio in Paris, when, alongside his team, the designer was tailoring a haute couture dress on me: ’’In fashion, if you lack courage, you have nothing.’’ I would generalize a little and would say that in life, you can have everything you want, but if you lack courage, you’ll never succeed.
