New Parlor collection: Statement shoulders and power silhouette for free spirited women

Parlor has just launched its newest evening collection of 29 pieces, available right now in its main showroom and also on parlor.ro .Parlor’s new collection is about “Iconic – redrawn” – styles and cuts that transcend eras, interpreted for today’s audience.

Layers of lace and of silk veil, polka-dot tulle, satin and lamé textures are the fabrics of choice for pieces inspired by what may be one of the most experimental and colorful periods in fashion history: the late 80’s and early 90’s. Big shoulders, oversize trophy jackets with pearls embellishments, lavish bodysuits, tapered silhouette trousers that offer a smaller waist and longer legs, sensual slip dresses and beach pajamas structure a collection that is all about rebellion, self confidence and sensuality.

As a child growing up in the 80s and 90s, Veronica Zaharia, Parlor’s owner and designer, first got in touch with fashion through that era’s lenses. It’s the decade of the power shoulders, a symbol of women empowerment, especially in the political and corporate world. No wonder that two women who could not be more different – Lady Diana and Margaret Thatcher – embraced the broad shoulders as a way of breaking into a men’s world.

For Veronica, it is an empowering source of inspiration: “It was then that women established themselves as definitively independent and therefore I aimed to underline this trait in my pieces, but also to showcase a hint of fragility, as a way to create an effect of sensuality.

Also, I was drawn by this real passion that existed in the era, to bring to life, for the pop generation, some of the iconic styles of power dressing and the ageless cuts of the 40s, which I integrate in all my collections.”

Parlor, the Romanian based demi-couture label, was founded in 2010, with the conviction that no matter the trends and times, a woman must still be refined, feminine and elegant.

For Parlor collections, Veronica Zaharia, proposes a feminine line, with architectural influences and modern finishing.

The outfits are made of precious materials – natural silk, lace and velvet; the details are manually made of crystals, pearls and semiprecious stones.
