Iancu and Ilona were a little bit spoiled in the last few weeks because they got so many presents, not only for Christmas, but all December. Ilona was the privileged one: first she received presents from Saint Nicholas, after that came her 5 th anniversary, and last but not least, tens of presents were waiting her under the Christmas tree. This translates into toys that us, when we were her age, never dreamed of getting, but also many cute clothes.
This morning, when she went into her room, Ilona already put aside some clothing items, but I wasn’t sure why. ’’Maman, this is what I want to wear today’’, she told me, pointing at a rather sober outfit that she put together.’’ Why these clothes, mon bebe d’amour, and not others?’’, I asked her already knowing that she is very unpredictable when it comes to fashion and choosing clothes. ’’Because papa told me that the way the 1 st of January finds you, that is how your year will look like. And this year I’ve decided to be always dressed beautiful, also because now I am 5, I’m no longer a little girl.’’
The winner out of the many pieces was a black turtleneck sweater, a beige skirt and neutral coloured accessories: black shoes, a black ribbon and grey socks. ’’Ilona, you’re right, you are a big girl now, but don’t you think you’ll be a little bit to sober in this outfit?’’, I asked her hoping I could talk her into brighten up the outfit. ’’No, maman. Because in this way, la pièce de la resistance will pop up’’, she told me in giggles while she took out, like a magician from it’s hat, an absolutely adorable purse with cherries printed on the front. Ilona, simply Ilona!
